What can be done with a Motor Home?

Had a guy call. He has a 1999 Ford Fleetwood Storm, white motor home. The coloured decal design is good on one side, but has faded on the other.
Besides telling him "park a different way, it`ll even out," can anything be done to brighten up the large decals to bring the colour out?

Also, has anyone ever polished a motorhome? It is white, so pretty forgiving, but how long would it take? Gees, I can`t imagine.

Most vynil decals have about a 5 year life in the sun before the color starts going, if not properly take care of. The only thing i could think of is try hand rubbing them out with a mild polish, you may be able to shine them up a little.
If that don`t work, he`ll have to replace it.

And on the polishing it all depends on what you want to do and how bad it is. You mentioned the vynil decal being faded so i`m sure it hasn`t been properly cared for. You could use a 1 step product or you could use several aggressive and mild polishes to get that perfect shine. Without knowing how big it is, i couldn`t tell you how long it could take.

I`ve spent an entire day on a motorhome before. So at least a day if this is your first.

    Thanx TrueDetailer.
    Do you recommend a polish?
Honestly, I`m not sure the guy will want to pay for a multi-stage, and I`ll have to do it outside or rent a space with a larger door.

My neighbor and his son cleans their 36` motor home after each trip. This includes washing, waxing, polishing and engine detailing. About a 6 hour
job with both of them working steady including beer breaks etc.

I use to do a boat that had those decals on the side I used AIO to help bring bakc the shine. I agree that if they are to far gone not to much will bring them back. I have also used AIO or PB P-w-C on motorhomes as a one step and that has worked well for me.

Re: What can be done with a Motor Home?

    Hey guys.
Thanx for the tips. I tried some different products, to no avail. There was no noticable difference, regardless of whether I went by hand, or regardless of what pad or product I used.
I`ll try AIO when my order finally gets here, but it was a bit of a bummer not to get anything out of it. It was really faded, and a black residue was coming off.

I don`t think much can be done with the decals but for the white... it is actually a gel coat. It is very pourous and there are a lot of containments in there. The Fleetwood storm also has a rubber roof that leaves black streaks all over the finish. Be sure to clean the surface free of all of this stuff, because if you don`t, it`ll clog up in your pads. Also if it is really bad, a wool pad will be your best bet. Good luck.
