Going to try my first paint coating..got a few questions of course.

I have a 2015 Hyundai Sonata 2.0 in Phantom Black. A few months back I did a full detail on it and it`s holding up nicely but I wanted to give it a good paint coating before winter hits.

I ordered a Mckee`s Paint Coating kit that comes with the new Sio2 wash, Xtreme Iron remover and the coating itself. I also picked up their prep polish as well.

So I will do a wash, iron remover, clay bar it, do a few spot touch ups, then do the prep polish followed by the coating. I also got some Hydro Blue to top over the coating once it fully cures. Does that sound like a solid plan?

I also have 3M Clear Bra installed on the front and some other spots. Can the coating be applied to that as well? What about the chrome trim? I`ve never used/done any coatings before and I want to make sure I do it all right. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like a solid plan. You don`t have to use hydro blue right away. I would think using it monthly would be good enough maintenance.

You can coat over any of the surfaces you mentioned.

I would recommend using the iron remover prior to washing it. This way you won`t dilute the product. I believe Nick mentioned in the video for it that it can be used in the sun. Other than that you are good to go.

I am excited to try it out. So with this coating, I wouldn`t use a glaze like PB Black Hole, right? Just prep the paint and apply the coating?

Nope, no glaze...coatings like bare paint; no wax, no glaze no polish residue...squeaky clean is the way to go.

Exactly, in fact you`ll need to use something to strip those oils and other things left behind by a polish.

I am going to use the McKee`s Coating Prep Polish McKee`s 37 Coating Prep Polish

Would I just use a white pad to apply this?

Lake Country white polishing pad would be fine.

For machine application, set the polisher to medium speed and apply a nickle-sized amount to a foam polishing pad. Thoroughly work the product into the surface and remove residue with a microfiber towel.

Cool. I have white hex-logic pads from CG, so I am guessing they are similar.
