US Army`s 1st Infantry Division soldiers disembarking from a LCVP (Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel) at Omaha Beach during the Normandy Landings of D-Day.
"For the greater good" comes to mind when I view this photo.

There are SO many things that symbolize America to me - I couldn`t pick just one! So I made a collage:
IMHO every single one of those images represents something uniquely American.
Bourbon....Proudly made in the USA!

I hope I can enter the contest as a Canadian
For myself, it is the continue tight relationship between Canada and USA as neighbouring allies.

Autopian kits?
So my account was finally authorized and I have been thinking about what to post here - love the submissions so far - some great work and I don`t have anything that clever. Really thought about a picture of my family, because America (and Canada) is about having the right to have a family that you choose and the soldiers who fight for us allow me to have time with my family. But, then I didn`t post that so I just decided on a simple screen grab of Autopia. Where, in America, people are free to start a business - to offer a product and/or service to meet the needs and demands of consumers. And we can start that business just simply because we want to. It`s that which makes us unique and what symbolizes America to me. Again, the other posts have been on point and I didn`t want to be duplicative.

I know - I thought of that as well but the screen clipper here at work was wonky and I hit clip at the wrong time - wasn`t going to re-try it since I wouldn`t have a good screen clip likely before Friday - good catch, though..but to bring it back to the point, that we can sell a German product here..well..anyway. Good catch. Thanks.

Awesome picture! My great grandfather was part of the army infantry on that day. I know he survived that day, and he talked to my dad about it a little bit, but obviously not something he enjoyed talking about much. Unfortunately I never got to meet him, but it`s something special to know that my great grandfather was a true American Hero.
I don`t know what beach he was on, or what division he was in but I guess there is a slight chance he is in that picture.
