Re: 9 Weeks to Win! (Week 9)

Oh, where to begin.... I enjoy it for a number of different reasons and most of them are personal satisfaction, but also to show off what I am capable of doing. When someone comes up and asks, "how do you keep your black car looking so clean?" It gives me a sense of accomplishment and fuels my addiction to know that people notice my time and effort. I am also a firm believer that if you take care of your car it will take care of you.

Re: 9 Weeks to Win! (Week 9)

Short version is I`m a car guy. Since 1974 I`ve been in the car business. For over 30 years, I drove new cars, usually 2 to 6 a year. Now that I no longer have a company car, I take pride in having my older vehicles look as good as new, both DD`s and garage queens.

I love having a clean shiny vehicle. Plus being able to make a little money on the side whenever I need it is always great too.

I just love the look of a brand new car and enjoys doing the work to keep it that way as it ages. It is also therapeutic, it takes your mind off problems and gives you satisfaction when your masterpiece is completed.

I detail because of the "pride of ownership" I have for my SRT.

FYI: I`m passing on this week final as I`ve already won a WG coating... I really like it too!

Good luck to everyone who entered/enters!

Re: 9 Weeks to Win! (Week 9)

I love detailing because you can take a vehicle that is an old everyday vehicle, and make it look better than any of the brand new vehicles setting on the local car lots. It also says something about you as a person: It means you take care of the things you own. The end result is another reason its such a blast. Even when that black paint doesnt want to finish down, and your out there at 1:00 in the morning slaving away, what keeps a guy going is knowing that once he figures out what the paint wants, the end result will be spectacular. Another cool thing about detailing is all the cool, innovative products coming out: its just super exciting. I got into detailing about 3 years ago and have already seen some amazing things happening in the detailing industry.

Re: 9 Weeks to Win! (Week 9)

My favorite part is seeing how the vehicle was before the detail and then how it looks after everything is finished. It is rewarding to see the look on the owners face when they see how the final product looks compared to the normal wash and wax. I also like the feel of a vehicle after it has been clayed, polished, and waxed. I also love the look of water as it beads off the waxed paint. My very first detail was with Wolfgang products about 6 or 7 years ago. It is one of the best brands on the market.

Re: 9 Weeks to Win! (Week 9)

When I was a kid, I was influenced by my uncle who always loved washing and waxing his car. Before I could even drive, I`ve been washing and waxing our vehicles as well because of what my uncle taught me. I just love the look of a clean and shiny car. I first found out about MOL back in 2004 when forums were new and I`ve been hooked ever since. My love for detailing continued to grow as I found PBMG back in 2008, which is the same time I was able to buy my first vehicle. I loved how detailing can keep your car looking like new.

I also love how detailing can not only protect your investment but also fetch more money in a trade in. I have a few friends who asked for my help to detail their vehicles because the dealers were low balling them when they tried to trade in their cars.. The FJ Cruiser got $2k more than the original trade in after the detail and the Mustang got $2k more after the detail.
Detailed: 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser - Black Cherry Pearl (Trashed Off-Road Revival)
Detailed: 2001 Ford Mustang - Zinc Yellow (Chalky Paint Revival)

When I detail for someone, I love detailing beat up cars that look trashed and faded (not with CC failure). This is because detailing can make such a dramatic difference and the owners usually can`t believe that it`s still their car. The reaction I get from these customers make all the hard work soooo worth it. The satisfaction I get from their reactions is even better than the monetary payment I receive. In fact, it`s priceless. For example, the owner of this Mercedes E430 thought his paint was done and was already planning to pay for a re-spray. I said let me give it a shot. I can`t make the paint worse lol!

End Result keeps me going with the tiresome steps.
It is very satisfying in the end to be able to make it better than counterparts.
