Newbie with New Car Paint Correction ?`s

    hello All,

I just purchased a new 2017 Audi A4. The color is White. When I got it home I noticed faint swirl marks all over the car.
Called the dlr and he said to bring it back and they would wax it. (Dont trust dealer)

I know it needs more that wax so this is what I was going to do:

    Clay the entire car
Use 3M Imperial Hand Glaze with a PC or Use P21S (Cleaner (very mild polish as I understand it))
Finish with One Grand Blitz carnuba was.

    Does this make sense ?
Would you use the 3M or the P21S for the light swirls/scratches ?

I also have Klasse product avail to me.

Thanks for any advice ... Tom

I like Zymol cleaner wax and HD SPEED. ZYMOL can handle water spots. HD SPEED AIO can handle swirls in the clear coat. I have both and HD SPEED is my go to for most of my detailing.

By hand I`m assuming? Griot`s 3-1 wax followed by best of show will work both easy and look great.

I am using a Porter Cable DA machine. I need something that will get the fine circular scratches out.

I just tried some older 3m Finesse It II (39003) but it didnt seen to work either.

Audi`s normally have a "hard" clear coat, so you may need to use something more aggressive, even to remove minor swirls.

tommoran2- Welcome to Autopia! Fellow Audi-nut here

As noted, Audis typically have quite hard clear. To correct any of mine with a PC I had to drop down to 3-4" pads and use rather aggressive products.

The 3M IHG is a nonabrasive product that does some concealing but does *not* fix the marring. The P21s GEPC has a tiny bit of abrasive cut but for practical purposes I *always* found it functionally nonabrasive. I never did like the 3M FI line and IMO it`s outdated tech anyhow. FWIW, for even *VERY* light marring I had to use PI-III Rubbing Compound (05933...still remember the number!) and then follow up with something milder but even that took *FOREVER* and I don`t just mean an hour per panel.

I`m a bit out of date on today`s abrasives/pads as I basically don`t need them any more, but I`m sure somebody here can point you in the right direction. Just be warned- correcting Audis with a PC, even with the little pads, can take a long time.
