Congrats to Rupes on the acquisition! This is going to really mean great things for both companies.

Looks like there will possibly be some dual head large throw machines for the boat and airplane industry !!!!

Ah, this sounds great! (Regulars here know that I simply *love* my Cyclos, though they can`t compete with something like the Rupes for serious correction.)

Suede-type MF Bonnets work very well for me when buffing off LSPs, and I love using the Cyclo for jobs like that. I sincerely doubt that anybody who`s actually tried that combo (suede-style MF bonnets on the Cyclo) would poke fun at it Seriously, let your LSP flash off, maybe mist on a *tiny* bit of some leaves-stuff-behind-type QD or a Spray LSP, and buff with those bonnets on a Cyclo; I bet you`d love both the process (different movements than doing it manually) and the results (subtle diff, but it`s there most of the time).

Eh, in all fairness, if you`re thinking "polishing" then I can see your criticism of the bonnets; buffing off *polish* residue that way never worked very well for me. I was thinking "LSP"...But hey, IMO it`s just a "grab your attention"/"look snazzy" picture with zero real-world basis anyhow; running a Cyclo with anything on a clean/dry/bare hood?!? Now *that`s* what I think looks silly So I guess we *both* think that`s a goofy picture!

And who wears gloves while polishing!!
Eh, I often wear gloves when doing most any detailing-related activity. But yeah, different people do/don`t wear gloves for all sorts of activities; I don`t wear `em when I lift (even though it`d help with calluses) but I do wear `em when doing stuff that leads to chapping and fingernail damage (I seem especially susceptible to both).

I doubt that, more likely there will be more Bigfeet being sold into the boat and airplane arena.

All the top Boat Detailers I know will only use Rotary Power because nothing else is fast and powerful enough, and even then they can kill Rotary motors after awhile..
And they also know how to correct gelcoat without swirls, holograms, etc... .

Awhile back when Shurhold came out with a Random Orbital that another company copied almost exactly, even the orange and black color, they sent my buddy one of their machines..
He looked at it laughed, and asked me if I wanted it...
No, I didnt want or need it either...

I was just trying to say that IMO rather than Rupes technology finding its way into Cyclo polishers, it`s more likely that Rupes polishers will find their way into Cyclo`s markets.

Now that they have variable speed and balancing options, I`d be pretty surprised if the Cyclos get revised any time soon. Look how long the Model 5 went between revisions the last time!

Both have long throws (Cyclo is 3/4") that`s a dab over 19mm ya`ll, and low watt motors. One gets praise as the rotary for the timid and the other is considered a relic or a finishing polisher at best. When I had a Cyclo (thank you Mr Helme) I couldn`t understand why someone didn`t have MF pads for it. It was nice and great for a large hood like on a truck or the top of a minivan. But, I needed some cash last summer and this dude at a car show wanted it more than I did so it`s gone. I debated on getting a Rupes when I had some $, but, I just can`t justify the price - and yes, I have used a Bigfoot 21.
The perfect buffer has not, IMHO, been invented yet, and who knows, maybe they will now. How about a light weight, 1 head unit that could vary not only speed but stroke too? It would have a 5/16 spindle that everybody makes backing plates for and be more quiet than anything currently in use today.
All I have in this world is my word, and my balls and I don`t break `em for no one, you understand?"

I`ve never used one but I always wondered how many of those units do they sell.
