Help with paint over OptiCoat 2.0

I opticoated my calipers on my Vette two months ago to reduce brake dust etc.

...My wife bought me red caliper paint and I`d now like to paint them. What do I need to do to the calipers so the paint will stick? Help please.

    Thank you.

Good question..I would spray with Iron X, scrub with APC and wipe down with Prep All apply primer and paint.

I would never sand them...meguires 105, then 205, then ISP or Carpro eraser and you should be good to go...

You could sand them with 1500 or just prep with alcohol, prior to painting. Upon painting do what they call a tack coat. That is the dusting of the surfaces to be painted. Then use LIGHT coats as apposed to one thick coat. If its good quality paint then adherance should not pose a problem. Good luck! Happy Motoring!

Typically, sanding is the necessary prep for refinishing a part like this. Especially one that is being exposed to high temps. This will easily remove the Opti-Coat as well.

If I weren`t concerned with being a wet blanket, I`d post something questioning the wisdom of altering the oe finish on those calipers
