How to make a silver car shine

An interesting video from the UK showing the whole process of a proper detail. Although there is no special magic here specifically for silver paint, I enjoyed watching it and wanted to share. If you like detailing videos, this one is well done...

Well done video but IMO way to long. I get the whole detailed process but let`s face it, it`s YouTube and the process isn`t too difficult. IMO I at most that should be is 10 mins.

In terms of any color, the key to gloss is the polish job. Done well, even white will look like glass. The LSP will play a role but here too, on silver, I like coatings best as they tend to provide an excellent Wet-Candy effect vs depth, which really goes a long way on silver.

Watched the video a few days ago. Car cleaning Guru has the best video production quality out of the detailing YouTube channels. How about the backdrop for that Jaguar, not to shabby of a view.

This silver car looks pretty darn good (Blue is ok too). Some Gary Dean product (FR3) on the paint and wheels, Tuff Shine on the tires.

I think that how it`s lit and photographed makes the biggest difference. I took this coming out of the grocery store a couple weeks ago and it had been driven in snow and had been setting outside for a couple weeks but it really looked good to me in this pic. You can even see where it kicked up dirt behind the rear tires. The wheels and tire were clean tho since I had just switch them from my summer tires.
Another thing about silver cars is that they can seem to change colors depending on lighting more so than other colors.

Guru’s voice is relaxing to me. I wish he produced more videos.

Re: How to make a silver car shine

Noting that most of my vehicles are painted variations of silver...

Clearcoat is Clearcoat. Get silver prepped right and use a decent LSP and it`ll be utterly, *literally* blinding in bright sunlight. I always suspect that some folks don`t get the inspection conditions optimized...it *is* a big PIA.

Parking my stuff next to somebody else`s identical-paint vehicle usually makes it look like they were shot with different paint codes, and always in a way that pleases me. My S8 next to an absolutely identical one looked like that from a block away, and while mine hadn`t been redone in years his was fresh from a "professional detailing". My wife and I resisted the urge to comment

EDIT: Oh man, the above sounds awful ...not boastin`, just sayin`
