Came across this guys channel on YouTube. Had to share. We all see the aftermath typically of your hack "detailers" but don`t typically get to see em in action.

I listened to what he was saying, he says the holograms are a result of the paint being black and that the yellow wax takes care of them. People praising the horrible results is what`s more mind blowing.
Thats why buying a used vehicle scares the &@^( out of me. Idiot was on the edge of that rotary buffer allover the place, that truck may end up with clear coat failure all over the place at under 100K miles. You buy it looks ok all glazed up and then realize how bad it is so you get that fixed and your out of or just about out of clear coat. few years pass you get clear coat failure at 60K miles and you get the choice fix it for ?5K? or trade it in and loose 5-10K on trade because car looks like *&^(.
That video is only the tip of the iceberg...you have to watch this one:

I`m here on the forums as a hobby. Sorta like collecting watches, having a stash of Hazet tools, etc.
We ~proper~ car care enthusiast maybe represent like 2% of car owners who like their rides the ~autopian way~. Heh, did David ever trademark this word .
There will be guys who just like them clean and shiny will full ball2wallz QD with a cotton towel.
Many Consumers out there who won`t even consider paying more than $150 for a polish and glaze detail...
I know of full *pro shops* who do know better and know what glaze vs. holograms vs. proper polishing is but have let their craft slip and it`s all about the $$. Banging out one car after another.....
The guys in the videos like many, they may not know of any better. Whether it be the process, products or technique, I don`t think some of these so called-hacks are in the wrong. I don`t know what the going rate is for said hack work but there are consumers willing to pay $2K-$5K grand for full detail/coating/film and there are others who are just willing to pay $150 to have their rides clean and shiny. Flame suit on
You are right, odds are they ARE the most well-informed and well-intentioned individuals in that area willing to get dirty and do things the "right" way (as far as they know anyhow). Before Autopia/Autogeek/MOL etc, I thought *I* was doing the best, but I found out that I was no where near the best, or even `good.`
I think if they are willing to put THAT kind of work into a nasty interior, they would also be wiling to learn the proper way to go about such a task, especially since the `right` way is usually easier and faster in the long run.

The guys a hack, start reading thru some of the comments. It`s a miracle he even gets business. Some of the things he says, about his own customers cars, would surprise you. You NEVER bash your client or their vehicle. I don`t care how bad it is.
And people are paying $200+ for this sub par work. Again, just read the comments.
Sure this isn`t the autopian top 2% detail work, but what he`s doing is damaging and harmful to the cars and potentially to their owners. Someone is going to end up with mold due to soaked padding either in a seat or under the carpet. Or like the truck from my first post, I`d expect premature CC failure. On a truck that very well could of cost $60k+. That is unacceptable for any level of detailing.
Not to mention what this kind of stuff does to the detailing industry. Driving down prices, lowering expectations, and poorly educating customers on what a good job actually is. I really think those of us who actually care to do it right need to come up with a new title instead of detailing. Let these kind of guys have the title. Because it`s not even the same thing
