Basically it filters the water like a water purifyer. The Mr. Clean system is similar except it uses a dry rinse polymer in their soap that leaves behind a tacky feel on your paint. You can do just as well getting a RV water filter for about 50 bucks from any RV shop. The reason you get spots is the mineral deposits in the water used to rinse, filtering them out, you will get none as the car air dries. The problem with that is, I can never wait that long for the dang car to dry :lol

how long to they last? and when the filters to dirty can i just get a new filter. i hope so, because im really tired of drying... and that lapse in time between washing and following up with a quikdetailer and dressing tires would really give me time to rest. it gets really hot here in Miami and a simple wheel cleaning feels like an hour in a bakers oven. would any homedepot or lowes carry them

I think so - check out some RV web sites and look for filters - I know there was a thread on here a while back. I think Fla water is more chlorinated than the rest of the country?? Not sure it handles chlorine but check it out.

A standard water filter is not going to reduce the level of dissolved minerals in the water. Water spots are caused by these dissolved minerals left on the surface as the water evaporates. To reduce the level of dissolved minerals in the water you will need an ion exchange filter or a membrane filter(RO). Depending on the material used, many ion filters exchange calcium and magnesium for sodium.

Check your local phone book to see if there is a water filtration company that offers a Deionized filter for your home. In some parts of the country it is very cheep to rent one of these systems. The companys will come out and drop off fresh filters pick up the bad ones and recharge them. All systems use two tanks or they might offer a single tank system with a mixed bed.
This system will give you that "Spot Free" rinse your looking for.
