A degree in chemistry would be a good start.

Definitely a good chemist. I also think a great R and D department is a must. Beyond that you will need appropriate manufacturing facilities.

What kimwallace said is absolutely true. There is one thing that is missing on that list... You have to be smooooooooth with the ladies to get your project on wheels. :naughty If you grow a thick and luxurious man mullet, then you will have people wanting your product on the shelf just lining up to get a peek at your smooth product.

Having a chemist is the big thing. There is a lot of start up cost in developing a new product. You have to have a lawyer research if there are any other products on the market you may be infringing on. If you decided to go out and make clay, for example, you would probably get stopped at the door when you try to do it. Lots of research has to be done. If you have ten or twenty thousand dollars to invest in it and are really serious about creating a new product, then I`m sure you will be able to do it. I`ve got a great product in mind right now that I am just dying to make, but $$$$$ is the issue right now. I sunk all my money into Love Buzzard Enterprises and Mullet Wax. I`ll have to wait for a bit longer before I can afford to :wow the public with another smooth creation from the mind of Tyrell Wolfgang Fuzzard. :naughty (I didn`t create Wolfgang, by the way. They just had the good sense to name it after me I guess :naughty)
