So dawn dish soap is good ???

This guy is washing his exotic cars with Dawn dish soap to achieve the "Perfect Shine". I thought its not a good idea to use this stuff, especially on a ferrari or something like that. Wouldn`t it be better to use something "safer" to strip the wax? Doesn`t polish help taking off wax? Someone please guide me the right way!

I don`t know any "right" way, I just know how I was advised to proceed when I want to start fresh. If I want to strip everything and start fresh they said to wash with Dawn, then clay, then polish then wax/seal. Yes polishing does strip wax/sealant. Dawn has not done any damage to my paint.

Truth is I usually just S&W and then polish, then seal.
Dream big and be willing to do the work to get there.

The Dawn wash argument is long and old. I can settle it, the company who makes Dawn says "don`t wash your car with it - it`s not desgined for that." It`s bad it will remove the essential oils from your paint, trim, tires what have you. It`s meant to break up grease and oil and remove them.

It is much safer and much better to use a chemical like AIO.

Wise man once said "Dawn is for dishes. Leave it in the kitchen".

There are better products designed for use on your car that will give you the "clean slate" you are looking for.

I agree with the fact that it strips the wax and all which for me sometimes is good. But it also strips the rubbers of natrual oils and that`s bad

Ok, thanx guys. Personally, if I had a $500,000 car, im not gonna use dish soap at all. It just feels wrong.

I`ve learned to either use twice or more the regular amount of car washing soap OR just buy HiTemp`s Prep Wash that can strip polymer action/wax, clean pads, clean microfibers, and help between compounding stages!
