any good two step ideas

just wonderin` about any two step ideas on the usual neglected poor paint that most people bring in???

forget about claying for now, but how does #83 and then EX.

or SSR2.5 then PwC (or any other polish/wax combo).

Seems like it would save time, $, and more than likely 99 out of 100 customers would still be more than impressed!

I think this could be successful if you use the products properly.

I wouldnt think about it on my cars, or show cars or valued customers....but what about the mini van crowd!!!

sorry not "#83 then EX" , but rather #83 then megs #6 cleaner wax or similar....

i got thinking about this when i clayed,compounded,swirl remover, glaze and poly seal then carnauba`d ( i had a lot of time) a vehicle. Owner was in a rush, paid quickly, left saying "had to go pick up kids at soccer and got into vehicle w/out even taking a glance, let alone a 360 inspection!

oh well, i`m just posting and replying to myself!

I think the SSR 2.5 / PWC would be a great two step for lots of vehicles. I did exactly that not too long ago.

If you like the Meg`s line how about Speed Glaze (#80) instead of DACP, followed by your topper of choice? I`ve found DACP doesn`t always leave the brightest finish. It certainly cleans very well and tackles moderate marring/swirls but apply a light polish after DACP and I`ve noticed a distinct improvement in gloss and surface slickness. Meg`s #80 SPeed Glaze is a tad lighter on their abrasive scale and should impart of much deeper, wetter gloss than DACP (along with a small amount of polymer protection).

Another of my favorite two steps is Klasse AIO/UPP. Provided there are no bad swirls or marring the AIO/UPP process has proven to be an excellent match.

I think your SSR2.5/PWC would be a fine choice, as would SSR2.5/EX or EX-P. Natty`s suggestion on the Speed Glaze/topper selection would also be good. I recently had a chance to try Speed Glaze, and it is a really nice one step clean/polish/glaze product. The AIO/UPP would also be a fine choice if the paint isn`t too neglected.

I`m negative on the two step,

BUT,

AIO - UPP or EX has been my 2 step ,

BUT only if the paint is in very good shape..
Ive only done the 2 step a few times as most cars have swirls and scratches

I think #80 speed glaze topped with EX or anything for that matter can create a "customer pleasing" result for 80% of vehicles that you will come across.

If you need something a touch stronger SSR2.5 topped with EX will do the trick.

Are you working with a PC or rotary?

Hey Dwayne, I remeber those pics!! Wasn`t the prep with #9? I remember you commenting on how slick the layers of UPP were. Was it two or three layers?

Those pics really tempted me to purchase UPP. I was not disappointed!!!

When Rick purchased the Vette it had some swirls so he used Meguiars #9 followed by UPC and then UPP. I remember that it was multiple layers (applications) but I do not recall how many were applied at the time the pics were taken.

Not only was the car absolutely slippery, to me it even looks slick in the pics.

Like Jeff Bruce, I use a two step only if the paint is in good shape to start with.
Since I only take care of my own vehicles, that isn`t usually a problem.
Even then, I think I need to use a swirl remover periodically. For that, I have been using Meg`s #9.
A couple of combinations I use:
AIO/UPP, Still my favorite.
PwC/NXT, Seems to be another winner.

I also have had good results with AIO/S100.

FWIW, #9 - PC with a polishing pad, AIO or PwC with a polishing pad, UPP or NXT with a finishing pad. S100 by hand.
Actually, I think that the only product I use that I need the PC is #9.

Dwayne...I sure do remember those pics. That is still the most mirror like, clear and as to close to optically perfect shine I have ever seen on an auto finish. When you first posted it I used it on another forum in response to a Zaino thread. The post talked about 4 or 5 different Zaino products and umpteen layers over a few months. Then I posted Rick`s pic with plain old Meg`s #9 with two step UPC/UPP (if I recall it was three coats over two weeks) for a fraction of the price and time that the Z process took.

Suffice is to say all the Z zealots were out to get me from that point on. LOL

I still think you should have changed the name of UPP to WOW.

I would also recommend SSR2.5 and PwC as a two step system. I find that Meg`s #83 leaves behind too much micromarring and would benefit from at least a 3 step system.

For finishes in better condition, I would use SSR1 or VM as the first step with a sealant or wax as a second step. You could also use PwC as a one-step.

How is the durablity of PwC?

I would use #80 followed by your choice of wax or sealant.

I remember the pics of the Vette, still a nice looking car.
