    Question The basics

I was actually asked an interesting question the other day by a guy at my work. Knowing that I am into detailing, he asked me what some good products would be to clean his car he just bought (`95 Benz). I started going through everything I have and use. He gave me a look and said he didn`t want to go through all of that, just keeping things simple and clean. I honestly couldn`t think of what some good products (available in Pep Boys, etc.) to recommend. Most of the stuff I have is ordered from the Web. Anyway, after some thought, I have a few suggestions for him, but was wondering if someone could fill in the blanks or add other products.

    Glass - Stoner`s Invisible Glass
    Trim - Vinylex
    Tires - Stoner`s Trim Shine
    Interior - Vinylex
    Wax - ???
    QD - Mother`s Showtime

Keep in mind, this is someone who washes his car once every couple of weeks, but has no PC or rotary. He just wants to maintain his car. I had thought Mother`s Cleaner Wax would be a good one-step he could use. Does Meg`s make any one-steps? Thanks a bunch.

    Wash -
The Asorber or other high quality chamois
    A genuine sheepskin wash mit
And just about any good car wash soap

    Glass -
    Stoners or Eagle One 20/20

    Rims -
    Eagle One A2Z probably

Wax - I would say.... Megs NXT, maybe more of a cleaner wax if needed. Megs Color X and Mothers Cleaner wax would probably be good.

He would probably want a couple mfs from somewhere also.

I probably wouldnt suggest something for the trim... unless he has a lot of it. That isnt something that most casual detailers do if I`m not mistaken. It might be a bit too much for him (keep it simple).

    Well those are my suggestions

    Wheels- Eagle One A2Z
    Tires - Eagle One Wet
    Wash- NXT wash
    Wax/Sealant- NXT
    Scratches/Paint swapping- Meguiar`s ScratchX
    Glass- Invisible Glass
    Leather- Lexol
    Carpet- Prestone foaming carpet cleaner
    Dash- Meguiar`s #40
Engine- CD2 engine detailing kit (kinda hard to find, but its worth it)
    Degreaser- Simple Green
    QD- Final Inspection
    Spray Wax- NXT Spray Wax
Bug and Tar remover- Turtle Wax (yellow can)
Air Freshener- Ozium New Car Smell or Meguiar`s Odor Terminator

I think that is about it. If I have forgotten an area then I`m sure I`ll think of it later. That would be my shopping list if I had to restock at WalMarts and Targets. (God forbid)

Heavy Cleaning- engine, tires & rims, wheel wells... Greased Lightening
Car Wash- A wash and wax... Eagle One Wet or Zip Wax
Paint conditioning... Meg`s Color X...just explain that it is a one time event and worth the effort
    Trim (ext & Int)...Vinylex
Maintaining.... ProtectAll- Everything from glass, trim, paint,etc...
You definitely have to keep it simple for someone like that!
All things can be explained, it`s just that some things are harder to explain than others.
