    Revival Of A Black C280

I am tired, pooped and wiped out. So excuse the little typing.

In a nutshell, client bought a new SL55 and left me this car for several days to work on as I could between my other cars.

It is a re-paint, hard water spots and some pitting on the top surfaces.

    A couple of BEFORES:

The smear appears to be tree sap half wiped off

This picture was taken the next day. I had to cut the first day short due to rain

As one can see from the above BEFORE pic it had some marring, some etched in bird poo and in general just YUCK!

I machine polished with Magnum 357, a heat induced leveler, an orange power pad and my rotary at 1500 rpms`s.

I went over a few areas with Menzerna PG, Lake Country white polishing pad and again at 1500 rpm`s.

Now for a few AFTER shots......this is my ugly mug

After the leveling stage I used Menzerna IP and a white polishing pad at about 1400 rpm`s.

Final machine step was with my Metabo and Menzerna FP, finishing pad and 1200 rpm`s.

Used the Cyclo to apply a layer of AIO

I have a new "black" carnauba wax to test and I was going to use it to finish this car out but now that he has a new car this one will sit out all day by his office so I opted for Menzerna FMJ.

FMJ, I have found, gives a very nice "carnauba" loof and warmth to the paint.

Hi-Temps Poly Spray is used on the wheels and Hi_temps water based dressing on tires.

I like this pic.......you can see some slight pitting in this pic if you look hard enough.......the roof had some pretty bad scratches on it.

    Awesome work, as usual.

You have quite the arsenal of products.

    Have you AIO`d today?

    Thanks Eric

I have to go through my product bin, which is a fairly large "arts and crafts" tool box because I am running out of room!

I need to downsize a bit

The parts where I got the most aggressive is the top portions (hood, roof, trunk) and most likely, for how ever long he keeps the car, the only machine polishing to be done on it from now on is my good ol Cyclo

Nice work. Your pictures inspire me to try my FMJ again. I found FMJ to be more on the bright shiney side, rather than the deep wet side, but your pictures obviously show FMJ to add depth to the paint. My try it over VM. Tried it last time over the glaze that came with the Menzerna kit.

Maaaaan! In my humble opinion this could be your most impressive job that I`ve seen. A mess turned into a beauty. Very nice Mr. Orosco.
