What to recommend for this situation?

Over the years, I typically used an OTC Mothers clay bar and OTC Meguiars A-1214 Car Cleaner Wax on my cars (all applied by hand).

I recently bought a 2004 Chevy that had never been detailed, so I bought a PCXP and tried it for the first time on this car, using the Mothers clay, then Meguiars 205 and some PB EXP with excellent results.

I`m wondering what to do with my other cars, which were puchased new, are garaged, and always have a good coat of wax on them.

I`m thinking they could benefit from using a mild polish. Is the 205 too aggressive (I would guess not)?

205 is actually mild. So do nor fear of it being overly aggressive. In fact you may find that you need to step up to a more aggressive polish after doing a test spot under good lighting. 205 does indeed finish down very nicely.

The 205 would be OK to polish your garage queens. I would clay the cars then polish and apply a good sealant, wait 24 hours and put on another coat.

I was under the impression that the 205 was mild, any recommendations for another polisth that is stronger, but still "safe" for a new PC user?

After working on the Chevy, I could see a few places that would benefit from a stronger polish, but being a beginner with the PC, I want to slowly work up to stronger polishes.

Is the Meguiars 105 perhaps too aggressive based upon my descriptions?

you didn`t say how long you`ve had your other cars but i would start with a wash, then a clay and a polish with 205 and a white pad. then a good sealant to protect. the white pad and 205 may not smooth the clearcoat completely, in which case you may have to go with a orange pad and 105 then finish with 205 and a black.

That`s what the 105 is for a tad more aggressive. What type of pad are you using? cutting, polish, finishing?

I used an orange pad with the 205, with the intent of getting as much cut from it as possible. I applied most of the sealant by hand.

If you want to step up a little in strength from M205 but still have a mild polish that will finish nicely look at Menzerna PO203s Power Finish. It works great with a DA, has fairly nice cut, and finishes extremely well.

power finish and a green lake country pad has worked wonders for me...
