New to detailing but just landed a job to do a `68 customized show `vette. Everything is cool except the guy wants his Goodyear Eagle Racing tires re-lettered. Has anyone done this and any suggestions on paint and method. Thanks

I`m guessing you`re asking about a set of racing slicks...
In a trained hand, regular spray paint will do the job, provided it`s an exact color match, applied lightly as a dusting coat, and one wants to take the time to do the custom & delicate masking involved. It might be a good idea though to find the local racing tire distributor in your area and have this done by Goodyear themselves ... I would think that if a person owns a `68 vette and is asking for this caliber of work, he might be testing my knowledge of my craft, or be looking for a replacement set at the detailer`s expense. If it`s the original tire paint, even some dressings will remove it -- proceed with caution
Please post a pic of the completed job, I know I`d love to see it
A happy customer tells a friend ... An unhappy one tells many friends !!!
Gim-me a car with finns... :naughty and I`ll shows ya what detailin`s all about... :jump
Thanks. The lettering is already "wasted" so will advise cust. that I will try but he may have to settle for all black tires. It`s really more of a thing than a `vette. Radically customized.... 20 yr. old paint job that would probably cost 10K to duplicate...no stencils, all sprayed or airbrushed, a few spiderwebs but basically still good..this will be an interesting project!! Pics will be posted.
