One of my favorites, and I`d buy it in a gallon if they sold it that way, is Meguire`s ol` #36 Plastic Vynil Prep...now called Meguire`s #39 Heavy duty Vynil/Rubber cleaner. Try using this stuff on an old farmers rubber truck floor sometime. It may take a bottle or two but it is flat out amazing.
I used that stuff years ago, and ran out of it. About a month later I went to the auto paint supply store and they acted like they`d never seen it. They must have brought in some new guys at the time. About another month later, one of the older employees at the store came to my rescue and said that they`d changed the number and the name. The guy said if it wasn`t the same to bring it back. Sure enough I tried the new #39 and it performed just like the old bottle. I even kept the old empty bottle for a long, long time, just incase people thought I was nutz. I took the old bottle to NAPA a few years later, who had sold me the original bottle just to play around with them. They said they`d never seen it. I said that`s odd, I bought it here. Then I showed them the new bottle, and they`d never seen it either. I quit shopping there as a result.
It seems as though they changed the number first, then the name. I still have an old bottle of #39 Plastic Vynil Prep, but threw away the old #36Plastic Vynil Prep. Wish I would have kept it. It may have even been misprinted label as far as I know.
Number #40 is a great product as well and doesn`t get the exposure it should IHMO.
