Re: Detailing according to Jngrbrdman
i recieved my order from premiumautocare.com today and excited to get started. After reading your "Detailing Guide" over again and looking at the products I was wondering:
-When using the clay, do you use it on the whole car or just sections that have sap or bad stains?
-After buffing with the DACP you said that you use the Ultimate Paint Protection. Can that be applied right after you buff the car or should you wait a day, and which pad is good for applying the UPP (W8006 or W9006)?
thanks
Re: Detailing according to Jngrbrdman
Clay should be used on the whole car. Typically the entire car needs it. Just the top surfaces are usually worst when it comes to sap and bugs, but industrial fallout is somthing that damages the entire car. Clay the whole thing.
UPP can be applied right after DACP. To apply UPP I would just use the softest pad you have available. It is not necessary to use any kind of a cutting pad or anything. Just a soft pad will work. I don`t know which of those part numbers is the softest, but I`m sure its in the description somewhere. :bigups
Re: Detailing according to Jngrbrdman
Gotta stick my nose in here.
Meguiar`s W-9006 Finishing pad is what I use for UPP.
The W-8006 is a Polishing pad. That`s the one you will use with the DACP.

Re: Detailing according to Jngrbrdman
thanks guys for all your help. i started practicing on my civic today which was really really dirty. i live in the city and its always parallel parked on a busy street that gets nasty. so i gave the car a good wash and then practiced on the hood and fenders. i clayed one half to see what the clay actually does. then i used the DACP with the W8006 and the UPP with the W9006 (thanks CharlesW).
i was wondering with the CP 7424 where do you set the speed? for those who use it...
also i could feel how much smoother the clayed side is, which was impressive.

Like everything in this hobby, lots of different opinions.:)
It seems like I have mine set at 4.5 for just about everything I use the PC for.
The only time I felt the need to run at 5 and 6 was when I was removing a scratch with Meg`s #9.
FWIW, there is quite a step up from 4.5 to 5, much more so than the increase from 4 to 4.5.:dunno
Another thing I noticed, besides the extra vibration, was the splatter that I had at 5 and didn`t have at 4.5. No big deal, but it did require more clean up.
With Meg`s #9 Swirl Remover - Polishing pad and speed of 4.5
With Klasse AIO - Polishing pad and speed of 4.5
With 4 Star UPP - Finishing pad and speed of 4.5

Awesome! Simply awesome explanation. Always something to learn if you look hard enough. Thanks
Re: Detailing according to Jngrbrdman
I`d wear a total microfiber body suit while detailing if I could find one.
Thats great lol, I could see someone in that. :lol
Re: Detailing according to Jngrbrdman
WOW!!! You deserve $500.00 to detail a car,I would love to see you work. great info thanks
Re: Detailing according to Jngrbrdman
Wow this is truely a great read, since there`s nothing to do at work today I decided to take the time and read it here, lol.
Re: Detailing according to Jngrbrdman
:) Glad you found it helpful. I don`t think it has been updated in awhile. I may have more information on OCDetails.com that is more current than this. I need to read through it again and check. I learned that you should never put prices in articles if you plan on not updating them very often. lol
