    Layering question

Okay, so I have a newb question involving layering and longevity of products.

So products, wether it be LSP wax`s, sealants, or glazes... have a limit on longevity on your paint, before reapplication is needed. Correct?

When layering, how does each layer effect the previous layers longevity?

Does a good carnauba as an LSP extend the life of an underlying sealant layer?

does a sealant and carnauba layering "seal" in and extend the life of a glaze?

Or do all three steps need to be striped and reapplied once the top coat is about ready to throw in the towel?

    Re: Layering question

Yes the waxes/sealants have a finite longevity.

The duration depends on the paint prep before you apply (like claying and using a paint cleaner), the sealant /wax, and your definition of durability like beading, sheeting, slickness, shine, etc.

My guess if you have used a glaze and you see a difference over time then you can judge if the glaze is losing any hiding. I think you should just reapply the top level to maintain the well detailed look. Then, every 6 months or so, strip it down, clay (if needed), paint cleaner, etc, etc.
