Question concernnig a strange result from claying

My car is only six weeks old. In the past five weeks it was washed, clayed and two coats of Klasse applied. Several weeks ago while driving on a torn up highway, I picked up a little tar but mostly something else; what I don`t know.

To the point. This morning I washed and clayed the lower portion of the sides. I pulled it into the sun and where I clayed looks like someone took a buffer to it and created all sorts of marring. But this marring is from side to side and not in a circular pattern.

Now I`ve clayed quite a few times and have never seen this. Now I thought that perhaps what I might be seeing is not true marring at all but rather irregular streaks of Klasse sealant removed or partially removed.

Has anyone ever seen this before? Any ideas of what it might be? Could it be what I think it might possibly be?

    Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I`m going to end up buffing.

My guess is what you are seeing is marring from the claying.
If you clay properly it should remove the LSP

Indeed, as you say. But I have clayed many times and never experienced this. I use a light touch and let the clay do its job. I`m stumped.

Well, I`m using Mothers clay. It`s the one I`ve used almost exclusively. Was using PB`s Super Slick car wash as the lube and using it generously.

It made me sick. But, it is now 9:40 pm and I buffed all but the roof and back bumper with Pinnacle swirl remover and then washed again. I buffed the one door and pulled it out into the sunlight and I had corrected the problem. So I pulled it back in and did the rest and I`m assuming I`ve corrected the problem on the other doors.

I hadn`t intended to do this as but it is done.

I never used soap the way I look at it if soap was the thing to use they would not recommend and make clay lube.

Re: Question concernnig a strange result from claying

I had a similar result. I picked up some kind of crud in a construction zone... claying it I was wondering if a molasses tanker had overturned. Although it felt like it came off smooth the result was smearing looking marring. I chalked it up to whatever the crud was being gritty, although it didn`t feel that way coming off. Polished it and all was well again. Until the next time...
