Waxmaster 900 = Same as PC?

    Guys,

I`ve been detailing my truck by hand and I`ve been thinking about buying a Porter Cable. While cleaning out my garage I ran across a WaxMaster 900 Orbital Waxer & Polisher. I must have puchased it decades ago and forgot about it . It states that it oscillates at a balanced 2400 oscillations per minute, uses a 9" pad, etc,. The package also says it`s "not" for use with abrasive compounds. It`s brand new as the package was still sealed. Questions:

    1. Is this the same as a Porter Cable?
    2. Has anyone used one of these before?
    3. Do you guys think that it will be safe to use on my truck?

    Again, thanks for any answers.

It is not the same as a PC. That is the same thing that craftsman and other makers have. A PC has variable speed. It is safe to use on vehicles...just won`t get same result as PC...

probably a wal-mart special, and I agree with runnerbl about not getting the same results. With your traditional random orbit you will not have the choise of multiple abrasive cutting pads used on proffesional rotary polishers. Plus you will not have a speed selection. It would still be good for those quick one step wax jobs that you gotta do to shut up the wife but not great if you want above average results.:jump
