    Re: seat belt cleaning

Ron, I have a process that I use but its way long. However its only really for spot cleaning. There is nothing worse than getting the car real clean and there is stains on the seat belts.

That said I don`t clean them unless they are real bad and if the customer asks. I can send you my process if you are interested

    Re: seat belt cleaning

PRO makes a seatbelt cleaner. I use it and it works really well. I have never heard of the belt material wearing from an extractor. That guy must use some strong extractor solution. I have seen the extractor method used by many for years with no problems

    Re: seat belt cleaning

i clean them because doing a car and giving it back with filthy belts may mean they never return for anymore work but i was checking if it could be a problem as i wouldnt want to be the cause of someone getting hurt .

I`ve been using PRO Seatbelt Cleaner for a long time and haven`t had anything but good results. This is the first I`ve ever heard of seatbelts breaking down.

Yes, I subscribe to the Armstrong Method.....It`s a bit mid-evil, but very effective

I have however always heard that cleaning the seatbelts can and does losen the fibers

Only thing I have noticed after using the Armstrong Method is that sometimes the edges are a little frade. If that happens(which alot of the times there already frade) I just take a bic lighter to it and its all good again

Probally wouldn`t be a bad idea to have someone sign a waiver, but to me thats only putting unnecessary worry on the customer

    Re: seat belt cleaning

I`ve heard of people claiming that seatbelts break down before, but I`ve never seen anyone post actual proof of it happening, nor have I had it happen myself.

As far as cleaning goes, I just use my steamer and it generally does a very good job.
