    New lesson

I had promised my friends wife I would do her mothers truck (explorer).

    It`s about 9 months old.

It had a "Breast Cancer Survivor" magnet on the side. The moment I started to try to remove it, I knew it was a mistake. It bent as it lifted, then tore. So now I was committed. It took me 30 minutes to get it off cuz it kept coming off in pieces. As well and some parts were harder to get off than others. I know her Mom is a survivor, so I was worried that this had some special sentimental value and may have been a gift. As well as it left a big dark mark wich took about 20 itself to get out.

Well she wasn`t worried about it, thank goodness.

LESSON = Ask the person to remove these before you detail vehicle.

Beats the heck out of having one of these large advertising magnets blow off the side of your ride when going through the traps at 130 m.p.h. I had this happen, track officials weren`t happy having to stop the flow for me.

I hate bumper stickers, i never have had one on my stuff. And they are a pain to get off once they get old.

This wasn`t a sticker, it was a magnet. But it came off like a sticker.

There are still remnants of a "TRY JESUS" sticker on the front bumper of my Torino. I rub my finger at it every other day and it removes a little more. It`s chrome so I don`t want to scrape it off, and getting it hot or wet just makes it harder to remove. Eventually I may break down and take some fine steel wool to it then polish the heck out of that portion of the bumper. You can see how it looks easily in this picture from this spring.

A heat gun will take the glue and soften it up making it much easier to remove what`s left, Also WD40 on a rag will remove it pretty fast

Ron I agree, I always ask someone if they want things removed from their cars.

I used to drive a Torino police car. That thing would swap ends in a heartbeat, especially in Washington, DC snow.

Anyway, back on topic, try this stuff. (Surprised I couldn`t find it at AutoGeek.)

Ron, How did you get that magnet off? My van has a big spot of one left that tore apart as I tried to take it off. I have`nt had time to mess with it yet.
