how to clean between third brake light and rear window?

I have`nt given this too much thought until now but this area between the third brake light and the rear window can be a real sore thumb on a really nicely detailed car. What are some of the different methods you all have used to clean this area? I have just been trying to run a mf towel with cleaner on it between the two.

It would be great if someone comes up with a solution.

On our 2000 Grand Prix, I have my best results with a MF over a plastic kitchen scraper/spatula.

While I can make it work, it isn`t really great.

I even went so far as to remove the rear seat to see how difficult it would be to remove the light and clean the glass. I decided the spatula/scraper would do.

I usually skip it, but once in a while I take the light off and clean the glass and the dust build up in the brake light housing.

I seem to think there was a type of light that had a swivel base so one could just bend it back to clean it, but I can`t remmeber what type of car it was in.

I use the long PB window MFT...I fold the towel twice or three times...depending on how much room is between the window and the light unit...then I slip the towel, down into the space with a sea saw effect...this seems to get that part of the window clean..or cleaner than it was

And that seems to be what most of us are ending up with for results.

Charles..short of taking it apart is the only way to really clean it...I have at times used my air compressor to blow in there that removes some of the dust, then the sea saw method...but removal is the only true trick...and on a 5 to 6 hour detail that`s not going to happen with me, much less taking the chance that I break it in the process!

My sea saw MF towel works very well for getting the glass clean...makes the dust more visible!
