    how to cut polish then wax?

    greetings,
    i`ve done a ton of interior details and have decided to take on my first exterior. it`s a `90 ford fiesta and the woman said she wants a cut polish and wax...says she gets it done annually.

    so, how do i go about this? do i have to strip the wax that`s there first or will the `cut polish` do that for me?

    i`m lucky enough to have had an orbital buffer and all sorts of buffers etc. passed on to me. your advise on how to go about it all would be much appreciated.

    Hi W. Merkley;

    Welcome to Detail City.

    Regarding your first exterior... Everyone has their own techniques. I personally would wash it with Dawn dish washing detergent. The Dawn will cut through the old wax on the vehicle. Then I would clay it. Next I would polish it. And finally apply your final sealant...

    Others here may have a different approach that they use... but generally speaking, wash, clay, polish, seal is a widely accepted technique that professional detailers use...

    Here`s a great link for tips and techniques using the Porter Cable Random Orbital Polisher. This was written by Steve L. (Guru Reports Editor) - I`ve found it to be a valuable piece of reference material in regards to polishing effectively...

    I`ve never heard the term "cut polish" before. Are you sure she was talking about the car?

    I concur with Jeff wash, clay, swril remover polish, I like to glaze using 3M hand glaze next then wax or sealant.
