    Ever Detailed A School Bus?

I work for a company that builds school buses. This month we will be building the 50,000th unit. There was a rumor going around that this bus is going to be detailed, and put on the show room floor. Long story short, I got with the plant manager on this, and he told me to get a bid together.

Have any of you Professionals out there every detailed a school bus or had to bid on a large project such as this?

Can you guy`s give any pointers on how I should go about bidding this job??

Re: Ever Detailed A School Bus?

Last time I did a school bus I provided two options... one by the foot, and one based on time. After seeing the condition, and discussing with the client their expectations of the final results (as well as their budget) we came to a happy medium -- $350 for a wash & express wax on the exterior (no wax on the top); a pressure wash, vacuum & dress of the interior; and cleaning the windows. The whole job took 6.75 man hours.

Hope this helps -- good luck

Re: Ever Detailed A School Bus?

Hi just finished detailing a trolley car used to shuttle people around a shopping outlet center. This trolley is basically a converted school bus. It took me around 6 hours also without waxing the roof I charged the company $300 I`ve never done a bus before. It is alot of work! If I were you I wouldnt quote any price under $450 - $500. After I was finished they told me they had 3 others to be detailed, I looked at them & gave them an estimate of $425 each they agreed pretty quickly so Im guessing even that`s a little low. Good luck

Yes it will be a brand new bus. I believe it is 36ft in length.
