    Slickness Ques......

    Hellow Guys and Gals,

I have a quick question to ask you. After you`ve detailed your cars how long does the slickness last on your vehicle? I have a friend who`s car was filthy(3 weeks worth) but I sat a can of pepsi on it and it slide right off. I tried this on day 4 after washing my car and the slickness was gone. The shine is still there but no slickness. Now if I was the car and use a QD spray then the slickness is back again. I`ve clayed the car and everything and the paint is smooth to the touch but my slickness just isn`t there.

Should I change products? I use a locate distributor called S & N Products here in Birmingham, AL. I`ve used them for years and all of the local dealerships use their products as well, but I`m really considering stepping outside of the norm and trying something different any suggestions.

Also let me say this after washing, preping, and polishing my car I applied a paint sealant on the car. Then I went back a day later and applied some NTX which added a little more depth but I`m looking for not only protection and shine but a slickness that lasts as well.

I purchased some Duragloss last week and I`m defintely sold on it, but am I going to have to use the QD everytime I wash my car to keep the slickness that I`m looking for?

Many detailing products, especially QD`s, contain silicone -- thus the "slickness."

    hope this helps

Why in the world are you sitting cans of Pepsi on your vehicle? On anyone else`s vehicle?
I still don`t believe in grit guards.

I was thinking the exact same thing. lol.

If you like the shine, deapth, and clarity of the wax you are using then use it, if not then try somthign new. Honsetly we havent used the wax. nor do we know what you liek in a wax. If you want somthing diffrent(and from the sounds of it you do) then try somthing diffrent.

What price range are you looking for (if your looking) and we can sugest good waxes in the range.

    Good luck

How did you use the duragloss? How many coats and how much time between them? I mis-read it, he hasnt used the Duragloss yet. I dont think you will have to use a QD if you use duragloss sealant and top it with Aqua Wax.

My friend told me to put my last pepsi on top of his car to demonstrate how slick his finish was. It pissed me off because I didn`t move fast enough to get over to the car and catch it before it wasted out. It`s something about those last few sips. (LOL)

The waxes that I`ve been purchasing have been in between $10.95 - $49.95.

S & N is all I`ve ever used and decided that with all of this technology out there I wonder if I can get an even better shine.

    Re: Slickness Ques......

CalgaryDetail by all means share your knowledge on various products. I have a 1999 Silver Q45t. I can see my reflection in the paint but it is not as clear as what I have seen from people like blackbart or some of the other people that have shown pictures of their rides. I want it to be like looking in a mirror. I have a Porter Cable DA, Chicago Rotary, and a Sears orbital. I`m comfortable with the DA and orbital, but that rotary is a beast if you have it up to high. I`ve been considering using Meguiars professional grade products but like I said before I start buying to much stuff (The wife has been threatening to throwout all of my stuff!!) I wanted to check to see what waxes, sealants and polishes were most sought after then I was going to take it from their. I read where BlackBart was using Duragloss sealant and AW I purchased the AW but have not purchased the sealant yet since I still have so much of S & N `s products left. On of the companies listed on the cleaner/glaze that I have has Ardex on the bottle as the manufacturer but the rep at S & N said that their product was one in the same just decided to change the name.

I have a nice shine just looking for even better!!!!

    Re: Slickness Ques......

I prefer paste waxes overr liquid so I have a few more of those
For liquid wax i would go with megs #21, it looks better then next and lasts longer, and is slicker

As for paste waxes, i dont have any n the $10-15 range the cheapest i have would be the gold class which was 11 oz for like 25 bucks then poorboys nattys which is about 20can. for 8 oz.

My fav. waxes are a little more expensve but I feel they are much better. I am also a fan of the wax on wax off waxes, if you havent tried them give them a shot they are awsome. They are so much easier to apply and take off.

So my favorate wax right now is Zymol Carbon, it is desined for dark colours but wow what a shine (i use it on all colours)(the alternative is creame which is for light colours) it is super slick, the water just sheets off. It leaves the paint smooth to the touch and looks awsome. It is a little more expensive then some would like to pay at 65us for 8 oz but imo i feel it is worth it.

The other line of waxes that i LOVE are victoria waxes, you can pick them up online at Index of / I would say try the 3 oz before the 6oz jar to make sure you like it (or buy the sampler, which is an awsome kit) David Wylle will take awsome care of you. He has amazing waxes, they are easy to use, come out looking awsome and are a little cheaper then zymol (not my much but a little) again they are WOWO (p.s I have done a review on victoria wax and the soap check them out)

If the wowo isnt your thing and you dont want to spend 60-80 bucks a jar I would have to say go with poorboys nattys or nattys blue. (both are awsome) they are really easy to use and give decent results, (awsome for the price) Its a goood inexpensive wax that is easy to use, comes off like batter and lasts for a while. Defintly a good wax.

If waxes arnt really your thing i would say go with the klasse SG sealent. It is hands down the best sealent I have tried, i love the look. The only problem is you dont get a glow from the carunba.

I hope this helps, i have tried a few more waxes but I feel these are the best If you have any questions feel free to let me know

I use poorboys natty`s blue and 3-d products sealent, it gives a real deep shine and makes the metalic flake in the paint nearly come out and smack you in the face, and too queep it up and to give a real slick finish i spray spray and gloss from poorboys.

How did you get #21? I called Meguiars Canada and they told me that they didn`t have it! I was going to get them to replace my "bad batch".
