Can’t polish out these tiny scratches/cracks!!

Tried with m105 and Menz 2500 on orange pad with my rotary!

I didn’t go too hard with the Megs 105 - I made them a lot better then they were but they’re still present. I cannot tell if this is a crack in the clear or a scratch. But man are they stubborn.

If you guys have suggestions, I’m all ears as I don’t wish to put touch up paint.

Is that a sharp edge of a body panel? If so, paint is thin there. I`d live with it. You could break through the clear.

Yes. Next to the blue masking tape is the engine bay.

Have you tried to feel at any time with your finger nail? I would not continue to polish there. I have sometime’s put a little on a microfiber and rubbed to see if it diminishes or not.
Sometimes you have to just know when to say when.

It’s still there. Before my nail would get caught on it with ease. Now it’s finished a lot better.

I would treat it with Dr. ColorChip paint repair system and leave it alone.

Sometimes those are indeed thin areas

Polishing the car again today, will be taping these areas off:

Gee, that`s what I thought too.

I`d be inspecting anything like that with magnification before abrading it (which I sincerely doubt that I`d end up doing).

Keep in mind that it`s *NOT* about "cutting through the clear" as just thinning it a few too microns too many will precipitate failure.

So true about removal Accumulator. What a good proportion of people fail to realize is clear coat failure can happen but excessive removal due to the fact that the UV protection resides in the upper portion of the clear.

Eh, that`s my `test car` 4 years old, had about 8 different coatings on the hood .

Gonna have hood resprayed next Summer so it`s `Anything goes` until then!

Coated it again Friday after light polish.

Was gonna put PTG on it to see how thin rest of hood was but figrd "Nahh..." it wouldn`t have mattered to me anyway.

Ah, OK...that`s different then Guess my caveat can just be a PSA in case somebody didn`t know about the UV protection.

It was a really nice car (still is for the most part) but 70k miles of freeway commuting in 3 years really wrecked the front end. Looks like someone unloaded a couple of volleys of buckshot at the hood/front end.

Hoping that after it gets resprayed it can be great again but until then, well...life is gonna be interesting for that area of car.

Yeah, I have seen zillions of cars with mostly the entire front end looking like that; and it`s the ones that ride the freeways all the time..And you are averaging over 23k a year so wow, that is a lot time getting blasted especially if it rains a lot..

I have for quite some time now, always spent the money to get the entire front end done in clear bra, and never have to worry about the paint again.. They also put this really nice product over all the lenses in front that protects them and keeps them from getting uv damage.

The last vehicle I did this to in 2016 had a really nice 3M film put on it and it lays down so nicely, hardly anyone even notices it on there..

It`s unfortunate that the worst thing you can do regarding your car`s appearance, is, well...to actually drive it

The 23k mile a year freeway commutes are fortunately a thing of the past so impending respray should have some legs...
