New Car Transport Wrap Removal- DYI?

I`m hoping to get my new flivver in 2 weeks, (according to Dodge).

I`ve been mulling the thought of removing the transport wrap myself. Is this something I can do myself, or would it be wise to let the dealer do it?

    If it`s a b-buster, I`ll let them handle it.

They already have instructions not to detail or wash it for delivery.

    Thanks.

Our Wrangler had no exterior wrap at all. What is a Flivver?

It’s not a big deal. I did it on my mom’s Benz. I used some Valugard New Car Prep to aid in the removal.

    Billy Baldone,

Flivver is an old slang term for a car.

    How old is your Jeep?

I haven`t seen a car that didn`t have that white wrap on it in a long time.

I would carefully watch the techs do it then. I wouldn’t worry about coming across as pushy. You can always apologize later

That is good to know. My dad is picking up a new vehicle off the lot tomorrow and it has a sticker dealer emblem on it. Gotta pack MS and a hair dryer.

My dad will be picking up a Grand Cherokee and it too has no wrap on it. If it ever did,it was removed the instant it got to the dealer.

Around here I`ve only noticed luxury marques with the white Rapgard transit film, not others

I don`t know of a single Stelantis vehicle that ships with a wrap on it.

Unless you were told it is coming with a wrap on it I would assume it is not.

I would let the dealer do it. If you do it and lift the paint you will get the blame.
You could request being there during removal I suppose.
    Congrats on the new flivver!

No issue with paint lifting. Plastic transit wrap has been in use by most vehicle manufacturer since the late 80`s. Depends on the brand and sales ratio, as well as where the vehicle is being shipped to. Example, Chrysler usea it on ones being shipped out of the US as well as a special water based coating they apply to wheels and chrome .It comes off with soap and water. Provided them thousands of gallons before I retired. All use use sort of protective coating at times.

I`m sure that you are right but saying it could never happen doesn`t give me much comfort.

I guess in this day and age because paint is so thin, you could lift it but back in 2005 paint was hardy enough to withstand a little film removal.
