    Carpet refresh

I have a 2014 traverse and the carpet smells stale. How can I refresh the carpet with our shampooing?

Have you deep vacuumed the carpets ? Is something spilled on the carpets ?

Perhaps putting baking soda on all the carpets, brushing it in, letting it stay there awhile and then deep vacuuming the carpets will help..

If you don`t want to clean them to really remove the odor/s, perhaps this might help -- https://www.autopia-carcare.com/dako...l#.XFKXHlWQH3g

That`s kind of like saying how do I get clean without taking a shower... cologne? Febreeze or similar products might help a bit.

what is your Definition of STALE. Did you have any water leaks in the car at some point.
Most autos have foam underneath to deal with noise insulation. If you had a water leak, and a heavy one at that, water could potentially be stagnent and stuff grows.....i

Thanks for the info. I have no water leaks and no stains. I have carpet mats and clean them with Tuff Stuff. The smell is like old carpet I vacuum Them regularly, at least twice a week. Will try baking soda next.

feb- While I`m all about extraction (for vehicles, household...everything, and done frequently too), maybe if the Febreeze doesn`t do it you could look into the enzymatic Odor Eliminator products. I`m partial to the one from ValuGard. Baking soda has never worked for me the way it apparently does for others, but the ValuGard stuff has worked great as long as I got it in direct contact with the source of the odors (by really spraying it on there liberally).

Today I used turtle wax carpet cleaner. That works pretty good and has a fresh smell to it. Will see how long that last.

    Re: Carpet refresh

I don`t know what old carpet smell is, but is is something like old linens sitting in a closet ;-)
Not that I would have any stinky interior auto carpet on my radar. I mean even the street rain, etc that we get on the most used seats - front ds and passgner floormats don`t stink

Is it the mats, or the carpet underneath ?

Like Autopian`s and how we interpret paint, it may take a keen eye to know if you have a leak thats inside. Once inside....that foam is dense and soaks up of water - that doesn`t really dry since it`s dense. Just FWIW. Which may not be in ones radar if you don`t lift up your carpet mats after the car is outside after a heavy rainy day, etc. Just FWIW
