    Quick experiment

Wanted to see if I could help the GF bumper. Knowing the one scratch wasn’t going anywhere.
Had ancient bottle of meguairs compound and used the orange pad on PC speed 6

Also quick question. The explorer has plastic panels at the back. I can see swirls. Can I remove them with Pc and polish ?

Side note ordered some griots correcting cream

Good cleanup on that area! Yes, you can do that to the plastic panels on that back of that Explorer.

Wow - great job there !!!
Just remember on anything Plastic, you have to mind how hot it gets because Plastic does NOT dissipate heat fast like metal does..
Just put the back of your hand on it every now and then.. If it starts getting too hot the paint will become "sticky".. You dont want to go there, ok ?

    Stokdgs:
That`s a great observation about detailing plastic and its inability to dissipate heat generated during the compounding/polishing process. Can you mist iced (cooled) water on the painted plastic during compounding, wipe/dry it off, and continue with the compounding of the scratched area?? I also assume that this heat generation is more pronounced with a rotary than a Random Orbital Porter-Cable (RO-PC) polisher AND pad choice also factors in, as does the color of the paint itself. I am guessing black paint absorbs and holds heat more, while white paint will dissipate the heat (although I would think the color may be negligible) and the ambient temperature plays a bigger part, as does the surface area and contour of the plastic (like the corner or ridge of a plastic bumper`s contours, IE heat tends to "concentrate" at these sharp edges.)
Or I am just overthinking this.
