I had a pe8 before and unloaded it when I grabbed the ibrid. I really liked it but being the ibrid was more compact I wanted it. Oh well now I will have both lol.

If it makes you feel better, I have a good chunk of time on the short neck version. It has worked perfect.

New unit showed up Saturday. Plug in a fresh battery and all seems well so far.

I`m curious, mine does something similar to that, only it`s usually when the battery starts losing power. I attributed it to the battery going low. When you were running yous on batteries did it ever die like that?

Can this polisher be run on an electrical cord? Seems kind of self-defeating, as most bought this as a battery-driven polisher for use to be untethered to a cord, BUT if an electrical cord "solves" this power problem, maybe it is a workaround.

By the way, on a related note, does anyone use the Ibrid with optional brush attachments for cleaning upholstery or carpets?? If so, how well does it work for that cleaning process?

Didn`t matter if the batter was fresh or not. Would still do it. Hence why they sent me another new one as there must of been an issue with it.

Yes it comes with an ac power supply that plugs into a cord. Didn`t matter if it was plugged in or the battery was being used. As a matter of fact it started acting up when the ac power supply got plugged in. Tried switching back to the battery and it was still acting up.

Either way it`s over for now. Got the new tool and will see how it behaves.

It`s the connections for the power-source that are dodgy, right?

Don`t quote me but I believe so or its the switch. But the first one that gave me issues I could slightly move the battery and the unit would turn back on then shut off.

Aw man, I just *know* that if I don`t wait for [however long] I`ll get a problematic one...right before they come out with a redesign.

    Justin00SS:
This may seem like a rhetorical question: Do you find yourself using the Ibrid a lot for various detailing tasks? Like EVERY detail and maybe for an hour (or two) on every detail?? Despite this power problem, has it been a worth-wile equipment purchase to you in your detailing? Or will you be using the Flex PE8 more often now, despite it being a rotary-only tool??

I`m not Justin, but I can tell you I definitely use mine every detail for an hour plus I would estimate. I had a PE 8 and rarely used it. While it ran small pads the machine is fairly good sized and doesn`t fit into a lot of spots.
