    Help with marred vinyl decal

I was trying to get some spots off the black vinyl decals on the hood of a Mini Cooper. They look like water spots and one in particular looks like it came from the windshield washer fluid as there is a big circular splodge next to the windshield washer nozzle.

The entire car was clean. The spots have resisted washing and claying. I used Griot`s Speed Shine on them but they did not budge. I then tried some CarPro water spot remover, but no difference. I applied a little 3M Adhesive Remover to a towel and applied it to a small section. Unfortunately, that attacked the black coloring of the decal and has left an area that is duller compared to the rest of the decal. I used Speed Shine and then some liquid wax on the area and while that helped a little, it is still noticeable. Any ideas or am I replacing the decals?

    Cooked I think.......

You may try McKees vinyl spray cleaner/protector, but I think it`s done and need to be re-striped.

My gut tells me that the adhesive remover would mess with vinyl in a non-repairable way. I`m thinking the stripe may be toast.

Yes thinking about it afterwards, it was a "I should have known better" moment...

Thanks. Will give that a go but perhaps this is a opportunity for a stripe upgrade! https://www.mightystripes.com/Stripes.htm

Polish it with Griot`s perfecting cream on a soft finishing pad. If you don`t work with a machine use Griot`s 3in 1 cleaner wax

Bingo, Polish it. I did it with a min clubman.

I used Menzerna FG400, chem cutters work awesome on decals, just beware of heat.

Nothing to lose at this point. I would try any AOI with a finishing pad on speed 2-3. As others have said, beware the heat buildup. If this fails try the hair dryer/heatgun trick to see if you can bring back the polymers. Good luck!
