Help what product on these rubber plastic pieces?

    Hi all,

My son just leased a new Mazda 6 with 23 miles on it. Apparently, they had it in the Florida sun for a while. There are some black rubber and plastic pieces that are dull and showing some wear. Please see the pictures.

Any recommendation on how to clean and then protect from Miami`s strong sun?

    Thanks,

    Art

Could be water spots, could be they ran through a car wash with hydrofluoric acid.

    Also could be mold......

Try some apc on a micro and see how that works, or maybe bug squash

Tried the bug squash and it did a good job.

Would you guys throw 303 on it to protect it from the UV?

I`d coat it, but wait for others to chime in.

303 is a hard act to follow
Optimum Tire Gel (or Adams VRT) works very well on darkening/evening and protecting similiar bits on my DDs. I prefer to wipe it on and then go back and wipe again with a MF to prevent it from getting too wet looking.
Lately I`ve been playing with Meguiars Ultimate Black Restorer on some pretty mottled / faded plastic and rubber trim on my old Blazer and have been very happy with it`s results as well. Outlasts the Optimum/VRT by a few weeks.
    YMMV

303 does not last long on exterior plastics or rubber. You would be better off trying CarPro Dlux, which is a coating and will last a long time or Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant which is cheaper, but does not last as long.

Clean with an APC, then Opti-Bond.

One of these would get my vote. Or possibly Gyeon Trim or Gtechniq C4 as other options.

What I have done for things like that is bad I have had good luck with Tuf Shine tire cleaner (when APC wont clean) and when clean I have coated with WG Uber coating which is something I use a lot.

As others have said clean with APC and a bhb, apply c4 or Gyeon trim for a more permanent fix.

    Thanks all!

As an aside, is there a post somewhere that defines all of the acronyms you pros use? Sorry for the newbie question but I need to Google almost everyone of your responses to see what you mean.
