Ok, I`m bored so I`ll post this.

Since I didn`t buy any new finishing pads, I took one of my old 7.5" finishing pads (they are still good, because I rarely used them), centered the 5" backing plate on the pad and cut around the backing plate until I ended up with a 5.5" / 5.75" finishing pad. I`ve already checked and the backing plate can`t come in contact with the paint while buffing. So now if I care to I have a wax application pad.

Good job, what did you use to cut it? Did you compress the foam while you were cutting?

Just a sharp knife, the Velcro pad was too tough for my scissors, The pad was indented (shaped kind of like this ] ) in the back to "cover" the backing plate, so I cut it at the crease which gave me the 5.5 - 5.75 inch size. The foam was compressed when I cut it, but since I had to use a sawing motion, the edges are a bit ragged, but I`m going to trim them so they are more round.

I`ve also decided to go through and find the really "raggedy" ones and cut them to sections that can be used as hand applicators where the PC can`t reach. I know the "wax application" discs are MUCH softer than the typical yellow wax applicator that comes with most waxes.
