I`ll ask this question. What is the coldest temperature you`ll handwash your car? For me as long as it`s above freezing I`ll wash it.

i see some cold winter days here in mountains of west virginia. i try to do all work on above 40 degree days. just seems to go much easier...

Hey if the car needs washing and as long as it`s not going to freeze I would wash it. :yes:

For a bucket wash, 50 seems to be my low limit anymore. Actually, I haven`t done a bucket wash since late last fall.
Part of that is because the hose reel is put away for the winter and I don`t care to drag it out and have to put it away again.
Most of my winter washes consist of a spray off at the DIY and then finish cleaning with Spray & Wipe in my garage.

Upper 30s is my limit unless the wind is howling. Last weekend and this weekend are the only weekly washes I have missed this fall/winter.

-8ºC if it`s sunny. Usually, though, I`ll wash it in the spray bays (I found one that allows bucket washes!! :w00t: ) and QD it outside. (It gets too humid inside. )

As long as it`s above freezing. If it`s below 40 F, I draw warm water from
inside the house in the tub for both buckets and use rubber gloves made
by Rubbermaid bought from Walmart in the cleaning section. About 5 bucks!
This makes it a little less painful.

the coldest ive hand washed my car in was -5*c which i think is 23*F. let me tell you i thought i was going to loose my fingers. So what i did was got some huge rubber clothes, put on like 5 pairs of those really thing knitted mits that you buy at walmart, and then threw on a paor of leather gloves then the rubber gloves overtop, i duct taped the ends over my jackety to let no water in. It worked really well except i would only do half a pannel at a time b/c it kept freezing lol. But never again :beer_smil

Did it ONCE!at 40F NEVER AGAIN! my soap bucket was hot water and I used cold water in second bucket my fingers hurt BAD!

seeing temp as low as 0 here, i have a pair of insulated rubber gloves that i got from a chemical plant that i work in some. and man they are great for washing a car on them cold days.. but i only wear them for the wash then take them off and switch to cotton jersey gloves for the rest of the detail.. seems to work good for me, still very cold on hands though.

I washed today and temp was around 30deg here in NYC. You gotta move fast ButI cheated thou, I add some luke warm water on the 5 gallon bucket.

my last post said i would do it if its above freezing....but i did two cars today at 26 degrees and it wasn`t that bad.....long johns and rubber gloves did the trick.
