cast aluminum wheels

hello guys....what is a good dressing for these types of rims?
i use the eagle one A2Z tire and wheel cleaner and i need something
to shine up the rims made out that material because i don`t think you
can use anything on it

The wheels on my toyota are machined aluminum and I`ve been using the Mother`s powerball and power metal to polsih them up. I`d stay away from using A2Z or any wheel cleaner for that matter and just stick to using wash soap and a mitt.

The best aluminum polish I`ve ever used is Mothers Billet Aluminum Polish.

Better than EO Wadding Polish (although EO is pretty good).

It takes some elbow grease. If your towel doesn`t turn black, you need to rub harder.

Best shine ever!

Most auto parts stores carry this.

If the rims are clear coated, the Mothers won`t do you any good.

Wash with soap and water and wax or seal, just as you would your car paint.

Having had both clearcoated and uncoated wheels, I think I would seriously consider having my uncoated wheel clearcoated. The difference in the effort required to care for them is a whole bunch. Add to that the fact that if you neglect the uncoated wheels for even a short time, they look bad and need a lot of work to get back to looking good. The water spots and stains are sometimes very difficult to clean up on the uncoated. The clearcpated wheels are just like taking care of your paint.

For clear coated rims you can treat them the same as most painted surfaces...I use Poorboys Pro-polish to clean and polish the clear then seal after to protect and help keep the brake dust buildup....Your going to need some elbow grease to cut the clear as its pretty hard but that will get the surface clean and smooth



If you have non-clear coated rim and you can tell if you rub them and the cloth turns black then there is no clear coat...Threw the PAC sponsor on this site you can get Zephyr Pro-40 metal polish...Its the one that I use and it works like the bomb on polish aluminum.......Its going to take some elbow grease but you will get decent results....the power ball talked about here is a good elbow saver and will produce better results those are available at allot of auto parts stores, or online do a search for them.



These are rims off my old Jeep they where really dull and hazing looking....I used the Zephyr Pro-4o and a cotton polish bob on a rotary to achieve these results.....polish aluminum is about heat and that`s what will get you results

thanks for all the replies...since i am new to this i don`t know how to tell if they are clear coated or under coated...is there a way to test them to see which one i have or is there something i can use reguardless of what they are. i just want to clean the rims and shine them up

If you have some metal polish, just put a some on an applicator and apply to the wheel. If your applicator starts turning black, you have an uncoated wheel.

i did what beemerboy said to do with the towel. I took the towel and rubbed
one of the rims. When i looked at the towel it was black. So now i have uncoated rims...so what is a good polish for my rims?One that i can buy local

i went to discount auto looking for a polish for my rims
i found out that my rims are uncoated so using the mother`s
billet polish be a good one for my rims

Over the counter stuff Mothers Billet will work just fine....Get ready for some serious elbow grease. I would get some terrry cloth hand buffing pads a few are going to be needed...The black that comes off gets them dirty quickly....Work in small areas at a time 3 to 4 inches at a time..Then use a fresh clean towel to remove the residue.

i have another question...i believe gmc has a plastic cover
to cover the lug nuts...so i guess i have to take them off
and find a good plastic cleaner because when i dress my tires
i think the dressing might be staining them or i need to use some elbow
grease to get them off...anyway i`ll buy the mother`s billet and give
it a try...thanks again
