    Scratch hell

First off, I apologize for not having pictures, and with the end results, I am devestated to not have pictures.

Battlefield: A 1995 Explorer EXT, never been hand washed, never been properly waxed, never vacuumed more than once a year, and never has the interior ever seen UV protection.

Assault: The SUV was taken into the woods for scouting out hunting locations. Needless to say, it encountered many a tree limb. Resulting in mutliple scratches, some very deep.

    Strategy:

    1. Was with Megs GC Wash
    2. Assess needed strength of compound (3M Perfect-II Rubbing Compound deemed necessary)
    3. All scratches worked (5 hours of work)
    4. Applied Megs #9 SMR
    5. Applied Megs #26 HT Carnauba

Regrets: I didnt clay! Ack! I can feel the grit!

Needless to say, after 8 hours of work, the exterior is sparkling. I used an entire can of Stoner`s MSLT on trim and various panels to acheive a beautiful satin look on the trim, and an even more gorgeous look on the running boards.

Anyone have comments? I wish I had pics.

Sounds like you did great work. Now did you get paid for your time? Did you use a PC or rotary?

This explorer sounds like one I did at the begining of the month. I think the same treatment. Took me about 12 hours, I had for the weekend and worked on it after my full time job.
Here a half and half picture of mine.

    Picture removed.

I did this by HAND. And those makrs you have are nothing compared to what I took out. I mean nothing. Im guessing the hand method is what took me 5 hours.

Sometimes I will cheat a little when detailing a car if I find a small scratch that isn`t tooooo deep I will color the scratch with a permanent magic marker take a little finish and buff crosswise of the scratch to take off the excess from the surface and leave the marker in the scratch. light pressure does the trick and a firm sponge pad
