Fastest way to remove thick dirt/grime of leather?

Hello everyone, I just most recently spent way to much time on some leather seats in a Lincoln Town Car. Overall I`ve lately been working on alot of leather seats, and some of those seats have been just terrible :eek , any suggestions for helping remove all that thick grime? Thanks so much.

I have best like with an apc with a mild dilution in my case thats Hi Temps APC 20:1 ratio for leather. I spray it on generously and then agitate with a brush for a bit and then wipe off the diry residue. I have had amazing results and great luck witht his method. HTH

I used the water/woolite mixed 6:1 and agitated w/ a brush amd wiped clean. Go back over w/ water to make sure you dont leave any woolite and then use your fave leather conditioner. Works great on my white leather couches. Nothing else I ever used worked no matter how expensive the product.

I will second the 6:1 Woolite/water combo. Not only does it work fantastic but it also leaves a clean smell! Definately worth a try :rockin

i use a ph correct cleaner but the key is using white 3m scuff pads to scrub the leather . they are available at auto paint stores and they are for scuffing primer they are not very abrasive but work perfect for interior work without doing damage ..

Greg, what is APC? I tried looking it up in the "acronyms list", but I didn`t see it listed.

Oakcity, the woolite sounds interesting, I`m sure to give it a try, thank you.

Bigron, how long have you been using those 3m scuff pads on leather? Or maybe more particular, how long have you been using them on the same car?
They seem just too rough to be using on leather, especially very soft leather.
Not trying to discount your opinion, just wanted to know a little more before I even make contact with those things.

Maybe someone else has tried what Bigron has, anybody?

the scuff pads work great ive been using them for a year . i learned about them at a detailing class . they are not for regular use they are used to scrub dirty seats, door panels and they also remove scuff marks from kick panels and other plastic peices . once you clean your seats you can maintain them on a regular basis with mild cleaners and use a towel ..the pads are for heavy duty cleaning that can not done with regular methods

APC is All-Purpose Cleaner. It usually has degreasing capabilities and is dilutable with water. Poorboys has a good one, and I`ve heard good things about the Hi-Temp APCs. Right now I`m using Simple Green because it was on sale and it works pretty well.

I wouldn`t use an APC on leather all the time, just when it`s really dirty. For light cleaning any dedicated leather cleaner will be fine.

Thanks bigron for clearing that up, makes alot more sense to me now.
I really like the idea of it removing scuff marks too; I most defiantly will give the item a try. More then likely I will try either on an inconspicuous area or maybe a car with little importance until I get down how to use them, based on what I know, you can use just about anything inappropriately.

What works for me is Woolite/water & stiff brush...For really stubborn stain or grime Magic eraser and Woolite solution:

Works great on scuffs on plastic too!

So in saying that, I went scavenging around the house and found an unopened bottle of Woolite! :dancin

I`m going to try this tomorrow if I can, but I may be on the road for most of the day :shift .

Your welcome...Woolite works great and is one of my favorite cleaners for leather, the ratio I used for that was about 8:1
