Microfiber washing??

Hello everyone,i would like to discuss if it`s ok to rinse microfiber applicators and microfiber towels in hot water everytime you wash your car.Will the Microfiber wear out and won`t be in as in good condition as it first was?

I clean mine in hot water out of the tap all the time........... no problems.

Just don`t use any farbric softener or bleach and you`re good to go! Keep em clean and they`ll keep your ride looking great!

I use hot water for the first cycle all the time.

Step one: Top Loading Washer(not sure on front loader)
Pour in your detergent( Use only liquid detergent)
Fill with hot water until full and aggitation begins
Then fill washer with mf cloths
*when aggitator is moving, the water is not as hot as standing water, sort of like a jacuzzi
Then I switch dial to Warm/Warm
I also use the extra rinse cycle.
Check the water during a rinse cycle to see if it is clean. If it is not repeat entire wash starting on the warm without removing mf cloths.

Well that`s the way I do it and many of my mf are over 5 years old and look and work like new:hippi

I have tried MF washes, Laundry detergents, degreasers, and so on. In the end, I will be sticking with this regimen for a while:


-Add in laundry detergent, 1/2 cup APC, 1/2 - 1 cup Distilled White Vinegar
-Allow to fill halfway with HOT water, then add MFs
-Let agitate for 2 mins, then pause the cycle for 1 hour to soak
-Continue the cycle on and add an extra rinse at the end

Dry on low heat. Like Steve, my MF`s are still going strong for a little over 2 years now (the oldest ones).

You people take a lot better care of your MFs than I do.

1. Toss MFs in top load washer

2. Set water level to full load even though the MFs are probably less than half a load.

3. Set to warm/wash, warm/rinse cycle for 14 minutes (maximum on timer dial)

4. Start wash water fill

5. Add 1/2 as much detergent as the bottle suggests

6. Rinse time is the standard rinse for the wash cycle

Many of my MFs are two years old and are still in as new condition.

One thing that may make a big difference. My MFs are never really terribly soiled when they are washed.
I don`t use them for dirty work. No wheels, wheel wells, door sills.
Also, I only use them one time between washes.
So far, I have never had to discard a MF because it was in bad condition.

As Sean noted..if mine are really soiled i also add some APC...

Also I dry on low heat ....

one other reminder...use a cotton cloth and some APC to clean the inside of the dryer before putting mf in to remove any residue from dryer sheets or fabric softener..

and for the sake of the owner of the washing machine...do the same before and after washing

You are defeating the purpose of the white vinegar by adding it with the detergent. it serves no purpose this way. You need to add it to the final rinse only as it acts as a rinsing agent and helps the fabric fibers release any excess detergents. Also, you only need to use about a taplespoon per towel.

Adding vinegar here will help soften the wash water. This makes the detergent much more effective and clean rinsing. It does this by reacting with alkalynic particles that are suspended in the water, such as calcium or lime, and creating a neutral pH solution of salt and water. This frees up the detergent to go to work on the dirt instead of the calcium in the wash water. This, in turn, makes your MF`s nice and squeaky clean.
