    Question Polishing plastic chrome?

What is the best way to polish the plastic type chrome pieces that are commonly found around windows (at least on early 90`s cars)? Mine are fairly scratched up. I thought I have heard that you have to be careful not to use regular metal polish because it can mess up the plastic. I don`t want to use my PC because the chrome is surrounded by rubber and I don`t want to take the chance of staining it. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Try some VM, it is a very mild polish but does a good job on that type of surface.

Be careful not to get too aggressive. Sometimes plastic chrome simply needs to be replaced if bad enough. For anything early `90s or so, make your move to order quickly; the parts might soon be discontinued.

Glass cleaner should clean plastic chrome up fine.

That or QD will do ok to clean plastic chrome but to actually remove defects like marring and scratches can be difficult, even relatively minor looking stuff can be bad enough to need replacement

I haven`t looked yet into replacing it. Some items on my car are already discontinued. I had a chance to pick up new rubber trim and chrome, but it was a little expensive.
