Thumbs up Is all clay created equal?

I am looking to clay my Black CRV and am interested in know if there really any difference from one clay to another?

The three that I am considering are as follows:

    - Clay Magic Blue
    - Meguiar’s Quik Clay
    - Mothers California Gold Clay

I have only used the ClayMagic of those three but to answer your first question, No all clay is not reated equal. While alot of people like the ClayMagic brand it did not perform how I had hoped and I have been using 4* and Wolfgang for a while now. I have some Poorboys and Adams on the way so I will be able to comment on them in the next few weeks. I have read that with most clay bars the age old "you get what you pay for" holds up pretty well.

Something else to remember is clay comes in grades . Fine and course , Clay Magic blue is fine and red is course . When in doubt read the package to make sure which your buying . You may notice some differences between those 3 brands you mentioned , I think its a matter of what you like . So I would say try them and see which you like best . A good tip when using clay is to cut the bar in half or thirds , its easier to handle and if you should drop one piece you still have more to work with . Yes if you drop it on the ground , trash it , you don`t want to take a chance of causing deep scartches from whatever the clay may pick up on the ground. Good luck

I`m going to start parking the car on a new tarp next time I clay. I should be able to salvage any clay that drops, carefully inspecting it afterwards of course
Treat it like it`s the only one in the world.

Question Re: Is all clay created equal?

Seems like I use to be able to find at least one of these three products at a local Walmart, but they seem to no longer carry them; even tried 2 stores. Also, tried Advanced Auto Parts and they no longer carry the Meguiars, just the Mothers.

Is there no longer much interest in clay?

Don`t worry Mr Glass , clay is just getting started .The craze is just starting . Go with the mothers , it comes with the spray lube I think.

I personally use Clay magic just because i like the fine and medium grades. They are real sticky and a pain in the butt sometimes . They get soft in the Hawaiian heat ya know .

Also check around for the best prices. Some stores are jacking up their prices..Aloha

Auto Zone sells Clay Magic kits for $9.99. You get a 100 grm bar and a bottle of lube. It`s the blue fine grade bar.

I`ve used all three that you mentioned. I think the CM blue and the Mother`s are about the same. Ranked in order of effectiveness & Ease of use I`d say (1)Clay Magic (2)Mother`s (3)Meg`s.
I still don`t believe in grit guards.
