Looks like Nissan is making a new paint that could be interesting:

No need for wax/polish anymore, the paint heals itself. The question is what do you do after 3 years? Is it re-applyable? I have the ceramic clearcoat that MB calls their nano paint an it`s been great. Much less chipping than on my previous MB and hardly any swirls even though I use the MB dealer`s free car wash.

Sounds like it is a clearcoat layer resin. Maybe dealers would sell cans of it and we could have it applied on our cars ?? Maybe not ?

I know a professional painter that can do the job for me here in Cyprus.i think that he is buying the clearcoat from Germany.

That news story is over two years old. Did anything become of it?
