I received a fridge magnet in the mail from RoadAmerica with the race schedule for 2006. I think it would be a great place to get together for a meet. And not because it`s close, because I`m 2.5hrs away from there.

RoadAmerica is a road course in Elkhart Lake, WI, which is about an hour north of Milwaukee.

2006 Schedule: Would anyone be interested in attending one of the June/July events?

April 21-23: Championship Cup Series - Cycles

May 19-21: SVRA Spring Vintage Weekend

May 20: Family Tailgate Party

Jun 1-4: Suzuki Superbike Doubleheader (AMA)

Jun 22-25: Kohler / SCCA Chicago Reg. June Sprints

Jul 7-9: Ferrari Challenge

Jul 13-16: Brian Redman International Challenge

Aug 17-20: Generac 500 ALMS Sportscar Event

Sept 15-17: VSCDA Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival

The entire course at RoadAmerica is for you to explore. You can walk around the whole thing, getting different perspectives on the races. There are several roads that go through the inside of the track, allowing spectators to park nearly anywhere on the grounds. You park on the grass.

At one of these events, we could show and talk about our cars, and even do some detailing while we`re there. There`s always some shade around (except maybe at noon). If you don`t feel like detailing, you just watch the race. There`s also an option to drive your car on the track during the day, but for a fee (usually $50 I think).

Hmmmm, that sounds like a fun idea.

Prinz are there any of those events that particularly interest you? I would personally love to see the Superbikes but I may have to be at a mandatory 2-week summer camp during that weekend. All UWSP CNR majors are required to attend a summer camp session.

Hmm... Ferrari Challenge I`d check it out.

The Ferrari Challenge date would almost certainly work for me.

The Brian Redman Challenge is great. I`ve been to it a number of times. It`s a vintage type race. Many different classes. Pit pass is included with the gate fee. Plus a lot of very cool `street` cars....Porsche, BMW, Ferrari, Bently etc.

Jul 13-16: Brian Redman International Challenge

Aug 17-20: Generac 500 ALMS Sportscar Event

The above two events will have a touring session at intermission (usually around noon) where you can bring your own car on the track and find it`s limits. I did this last year and now I`m hooked. I will definately be there for one of the days for each of these events.

It`s very safe as the rules state no passing in the turns and top speed of 85mph  but not many abide by the speed limit. No helmets required.

Here are the fees which include car inspection and 10 laps around a 4-mile road course (40 miles!) and you can bring one passenger to take pictures/video:

Jun 22-25: Kohler / SCCA Chicago Reg. June Sprints = $75

Aug 17-20: Generac 500 ALMS Sportscar Event = $50

Hope to see some of you there!

LOL there`s an idea!

I should be able to make both of those dates. I doubt I`ll drive on the track though. My car is too slow. :( :lol

I`ll ride along in the IS though! :D

Bumping this thread...

I`ll be at Road America on July 16th for the Brian Redman challenge. Anyone else able to make it?

I will be there, but probably not on the 16th. Most likely the 15th (Sat.) for sure and maybe the 13th or 14th. I`ve got vacation that week.

I am going to the Generac 500 in August. The races are gonna be SO sweet. Last year`s race was definately the highlight of my summer. This year has 3 of the 4 best race circuits in the country IMO.
