to make life easier for us, some pads have depressions in the back of the foam where a backing plate will perfectly fit into. I know that propel`s pads have this depression. It`s a 5" depression so any 5" backing plate will fit. It saves time because you don`t have to sit there for 10 minutes trying to center the pad. It sounded like you were in the market for buying some pads and a backing plate so I`m just giving you a heads up :D

Yeah the Propels allow for perfect centering every time. The pads are 6.5", and work best with a 5" backing plate.

thanks all. propel is it. where to buy and which to buy.

thank you again.

i will be using meguiars #80 for light swirl, but might try SSR1, i am still doing research. use AIO with nattys.

truthfully, I`d just get one of the propel sampler kits and a propel turbo sampler kit. Those two combined will give you pads that can handle anything but the worst jobs out there. the 4" pads are used for defect removing with abrasive polishes while the larger pads are for your paint cleaners, sealants, liquid waxes, etc.

megs #80 would be used with either the blue or green 4" pad. Which one you choose depends on the severity of your swirls. I would assume that they aren`t that bad because your choosing to use #80 vs the more agressive #83. AIO I would apply with a 6.5" blue pad. Natty`s I would apply by hand with a foam applicator.

give aka patrick a PM if you decide to order from exceldetail. He is the owner and will give you a good deal. Good luck :dance
