I currently have a 00 emerald green honda accord. I am thinking about trading it in and getting a 2003 VW Passat. Love the look of the car but its
BLACK

The last car/truck I had was a 95 4Runner and it was a pain!! I have a PC, ssr2.5,s100,mother cleaner polish, ex-p, and VM. I did notice there were light webing on the hood. Is this a big mistake getting a black car. I love the look of it but I am thinking it would not any worse than the dark green one I have now.

If I do decide to get it what is need to keep it in top shape from washing to finish.

If that VW paint is anything like my Audi`s, that clear is hard! Paint correction isn`t exactly 1,2,3. Plan to have a slew of polishes, mfs and pads. ( That is fun experimenting and growing to have favorites though)You really must baby it, including religious QDing and extremely meticulous washing if you want to keep it marring free as possible. In short, it`s a lot of work but the results are most rewarding. There`s really nothing quite like properly maintained black paint in my opinion.

FWIW, I use Menzerna, 1z and 3m polishes in that order of frequency.

I`m certain you`ll be able to make a very long list of products as this thread progresses

if you don`t mind the extra work , then go for it. Do you have easy access to washing facilities? Will you get tired of washing w/ 2 buckets everytime?

I`d say do it . I love black cars ..I`ve had decent results using a pc w/ PB`s 2.5, then vanilla moose glaze and some EX..I had to turn up the pc to 6 w/ cutting pad to any diff. heavy stuff needs a rotary iIMO..

here are some pic. Sorry the sun is not out here yet. I need to know how to correctly wash it. I have heard something about using 2 buckets? I will clay it, use ssr2.5 with a white pad, then vm and then ex-p. How long do I need to let the ex-p sit on the car.

WHats the best way NOT TO GET the hologram reflections in the paint using the PC? THANKS

You might want to read this article on the Premium Auto Care web-page.

That should give you a good starting point for washing any color of vehicle.
Black is not a forgiving color, but when it is done right, it is beautiful. Having had many black cars, I can vouch for the more work, but only because the flaws show up so much more easily. The same swirls, etc., are there with other colors, you just don`t notice them so easily. My Black Sapphire, (very dark blue), Pontiac mini-van looks black in the right light and shows the flaws just like all of my black vehicles did. Having owned mostly red or black for years, I wouldn`t hesitate at all in buying another black vehicle.

Go for it. If it is more work than you feel it is worth, you will have at least given it a try and will know not to buy another black car.

well I got out the pc and the ssr2.5 and the vm and ex-p
I washed the car this morning 2 times and then dried.
I applied the ssr 2.5 with a white LC pad. Did this side to side and up down up down. Did it until a white power appeared.
Took a green microfiber towel and wiped down.
Used a white lc pad with VM and did the same method.
Used a black lc pad with EX-P let is sit for about 5 mins and removed.

I still can see light scratches, webbiing, etc.

Can someone suggest something.
