Man, today was definatly a headache. I resorted to some very un-ethical methods, that I will have nightmares of till I die.

I think the first picture says it all, but I don`t know, see for yourself. The stuff was there for almost a month by my guess, and had hardened.

Customer described it as a little bit of tar. :wall

Well, I definatly won`t tell you guys what I used. Well I didn`t use the worst thing, I told the owner that I wouldn`t do it to a car, but he volenteered and said, it will need to be repainted anyways, give it a shot. Putty knifes the name of the game on this "detail".

2000 PSI pressure washer, varsol, and even straight gas wouldn`t get it off. I was shocked.

Process for paint:

SSR3

SSR 2.5

Topped with banana wax.

Power-sol?

And pictures are fixed. As you can see, some of it just won`t come off. Even after being scraped. :angry

Oh well, he was VERY happy with it.

So how did the scrapping do? Do beat the crap out of the paint?

No, I didn`t actually go down to the paint. It actually looked pretty good other than the discolouration from the tar sitting on it for so long.

I would`ve sanded it :lol. You really had nothing to lose.

Great job though. I`m sure the owner won`t get it fixed after what you just did.

Basically I DID sand it, then brought back some shine with SSR3. He`ll need to have the lower portions repainted, as some parts were almost died the colour of tar.

Tar should come off with mineral distillates, Varsol is not oily enough to dissolve it, WD-40 or kerosene brushed on and heated with a heat gun should soften it and then use a plastic scraper you can get a pack of 5 from a Dollarama.
