Okay I am detailing this for a friend on Saturday. There are a couple of scratches but nothing major and there are no swirls.

First question is should I use NXT wash or Dawn?

I am going to clay the car for sure.

Then what should I do?
I have SSR1, SSR2.5, EXP, Nattys, and NXT

With no swirls and very little scratches should I skip straight to EXP or NXT or will SSR1 help me in some way?

I am mostly looking for protection for her. The longer lasting the better.

Thanks

I would not use the dawn the NXT should do the job. Clay is a good thing you set the paint up. Then depending I would at least use the 2.5 on hte bad areas then followup with the SSR1, followup with the sealant then wait for 24 and top with Nattys

To begin I would wash with NXT, I can never recommend washing anything other than dishes with Dawn. After claying, if the scratches/swirls are barely visible I would hit it with the SSR1, if it will be abrasive enough (use your judgement), to remove them. As for the "longer lasting" EX-P looks great on silver, it also looks better and protects longer when layered two or three times. Also, if time permits you can put the Natty`s over the EX-P for a more "carnauba look".

"Leave the Dawn in the kitchen." Quote borrowed from another wise detailer.

acopp1729, If you are considering using Dawn to strip any previous wax or "super clean" the finish, perhaps you could consider mixing the NXT wash a little heavier than normal. I`ve used this method on very dirty vehicles and haven`t had any residue problems. I use it with even greater regularity on tires/wheels.

OTOH, I don`t have a great problem with those who choose an occasional Dawn wash. I don`t use it myself, but if you polish/wax (read protect) afterwards I doubt that your paint will fall off. ;)

Wash with NxT, SSR-1 & only 2.5 on those areas that "need" it. For maximum protection, I would recommend two coats of EX-P with 24 hour "cure" time between them. Then top with Natty`s if you wish.

Well here it is. Not perfect, I have a lot to learn but it looks a lot better.
