Do you expect that descresionary income that was used on car details will

now have to be used for energy purchases, decreasing/eliminating the frequency

of visits by existing customers, and the potential of gaining new clients ?

Here in SC they are talking about gas rationing and the possibility of prices hitting $4 per gallon. The pipeline into SC is dry right now and several gas depots are also dry.

In a news release Tuesday afternoon, the South Carolina Petroleum Marketers Association said that the U.S. Department of Energy is reporting that nearly a third of oil platforms in the region, including nine refineries, were impacted by the hurricane. At least seven platforms have reportedly been destroyed.

The SCPMA said that it expects gasoline prices to continue to rise in the coming days and Labor Day weekend, and said "several fuel suppliers on the pipelines in S.C. are currently out of fuel."

The association said how long the prices climb will depend on the damage to the Gulf coast operations.

"SCPMA urges consumers to conserve fuel and bear with the petroleum industry as we assess the damages and make repairs," the release said.

All I can say is that I wouldn`t be buying a car @ auction from LA, Mississippi or Alabama for the next few months. All those `flood` cars will be dumped on the market in the next few months by the insurance companies.
